Frances Mahoney 1916-2002 - Ashland
    Frances Mahoney, 86, of Ashland, died Saturday morning, September 7, 2002 at Sunny Acres Home in Petersburg.  She was born March 11, 1916 in Ashland, the daughter of Martin and Margaret Devlin Mahoney.
    She is survived by two nephews, Patrick (wife, Patty) Davis and James (wife, Debbie) Davis, both of Tallula; one niece, Margaret  Davis of Petersburg; three great-nephews; two great-nieces; one great-great-niece; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by two sisters; and two brothers.
    Miss Mahoney was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Ashland and a graduate of Our Saviours School of Nursing in   Jacksonville. She was an R.N. at St. Mary's Hospital in Decatur and St. John's Hospital in Springfield for 42 years.
    Funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Ashland, with burial in St. Augustine Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to St. Augustine Catholic Church in Ashland, or to the Friends of St. John's Hospital School of Nursing.

Services For Mr. Mahoney Held Monday
    Martin William Mahoney, 73, of R.R. 2, died at 10:30 p.m. last Thursday at Our Saviour's hospital, Jacksonville.
    Mr. Mahoney was born July 19, 1879 in Tallula, the son of Martin and Brigid Barry Mahoney. He was married to Miss Margaret  Devlin at St. Augustine church, Ashland Jan. 27, 1909, and had been engaged in farming most of his life. He was a member of St. Augustine church.
    Surviving besides his wife, are three daughters, Mrs. Josephine Davis of Tallula; Nita and Frances, both at home; two sons, Glenn and
John W., both at home; four brothers, Simon Mahoney, Ashland; John T., St. Joseph's Home, Springfield; Mrs. Frank Hergenrother, New
Berlin and Mrs. Margaret Brown, Ashland; and three grandchildren.  Funeral services were held at 9 a.m. Monday at St. Augustine church, with Rev. Fr. Vincent Heraty officiating. Burial was in St. Augustine cemetery.
    Pall bearers were: Edward Hergenrother, Leo M. Reiser, John L. Mahoney, Patrick Devlin, Edward Mahoney, Robert Eck, John W. Devlin, and Leo Leathy.
    Flowers were cared for by Mrs. Charles Reiser, Mrs. Mabel Aggertt, Mrs. Rolland Whisnant, Mrs. Ruth Bergschneider, Mrs. Moulton Fulton, and Mrs. Kenny Carnahan.

"Sue Devlin Mahoney 1921-2005 - Ashland
      Sue Devlin Mahoney, 84, of Ashland, died Saturday morning, Dec. 17, 2005, at St. John's Hospice in Springfield.
      She was born March 9, 1921, in Jacksonville, the daughter of J. Leo and Frances Plummer Devlin. She married Raymond Mahoney on Feb. 28, 1946 at St. Augustine Church in Ashland, and he preceded her in death March 1, 1977.
      She is survived by two sons, Jerry (wife, Connie) and Jim (wife, Patricia), both of rural Pleasant Plains; three daughters, Mary Sue (husband, Ed) Orne of Ashland, Barbara (husband, Bill) Mau of Carbondale and Margaret (husband, Rick) Hamann of Quincy; 11 grandchildren, Eric (wife, Tracy) Orne, Kevin Hamann and Bridget Hamann, all of Quincy, Susan (husband, Jeff) Wilkins of Liberty, Mo., Ellen (husband, Peter) Schart of Carbondale, Keith Mau of St. Louis and Nicholas, Jeffrey, Alex, Matthew and Nathan Mahoney, all of rural Pleasant Plains; one brother James P. Devlin of Ashland; one sister, Margaret P. Devlin of Ashland; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother, Leo (surviving wife, Eleanor of Virginia) Devlin; one sister, Mary Ann (surviving husband, Raymond of Virginia) Ruppel; two brothers; and one sister in fancy.
      Mrs. Mahoney was a graduate of Ashland High School and received a teaches certificate from Western Illinois State Teachers College in Macomb. She taught school for several years at Gurney country school and later served as a substitute teacher in the Ashland School District. She was a member of St. Augustine Parish and the church Alter Society. She was also a member of the Ashland Women's Club and volunteer with the Bread of Love Program. She was also active as a volunteer grandparent working with the elementary school reading
program.
      A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Ashland, with burial at St. Augustine Cemetery, west of Ashland. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Monday at Massie-Buchanan Funeral Home is Ashland. Prayer services will be held 4:45 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Ronald McDonald House, Ashland Youth Association or the charity of the donor's choice.

Frank Hulett Mason - 1910-2003 - Beardstown

   Frank Hulett Mason, 93, of Beardstown, died Friday morning, Aug. 29, 2003, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.
   He was born May 10, 1910, in East St. Louis, the son of Frank Enoch and Mary Elizabeth Hulett Mason. He married Ruth Virginia Garrett on Nov. 25, 1937, in Maplewood, Mo., and she preceded him in death Aug. 10, 1982.
   He is survived by one son, Richard of Beardstown; two daughters, Ellen (husband, David) Smith of Beardstown and Nancy Burns of Robertsville, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Ruth (deceased husband, Vernon) Stillman of Dunedin, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sons, James and Douglas; one daughter, Ruth Abney; one brother, John Mason; and two sisters, Georgia Bauer and June James.
   Mr. Mason was active in Boy Scouts while growing up and he was one merit badge away from being an Eagle Scout. As a young man of 16 years, he decided to see the United States via the railway. He was employed by Terminal Railroad & Inmont in St. Louis, where he worked in payroll and accounting. He retired in 1974 after 30 years of service. During his early years, he worked on the the river. The river and his paddlewheel boat were always his passion. He also worked on the river for the Prestite Co. He and his wife attended the Maplewood Christian Church of Maplewood, Mo. He loved to walk for great distances until the past few years.
   Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Goodwin Funeral Home in Beardstown, with burial in Beardstown City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Friends may also call from 9 a.m. until time of services Monday at the funeral home. Memorials have been suggested to Bread of Love. Betty L. Mathis 1929-1999 Beardstown

     Betty L. Mathis, 70, of Beardstown, and formerly of Chandlerville, died Wednesday evening, October 6, 1999, at Heritage Manor South in
Beardstown.
     She was born Jan. 8, 1929 near the Hazel Dell School in Cass County, the daughter of Delbert and Ruth Lynn Cox. She married Orville M. Bartels in 1951 in Palmyra, Mo. and later married Fred F. Mathis on June 20, 1968 in Rushville.
     She is survived by four sons, Gary (wife, Nancy) Bartels, David Bartels, Steve (wife, Kim) Bartels and Greg, all of Chandlerville; two daughters, Bonita Bartels of Jacksonville, Denise (husband, Don) Hamilton of Chapin; nine grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; five sisters, Thelma (husband, John) Carey of Rushville, Bonnie (husband, Gary) Abney of Thompson, Sue (husband, Jack) Fritchnitch of Morris, Linda Johnson of Chillicothe and Jean (husband, Jerry) Force of Beardstown; three brothers, Ronnie (Wife, Frankie) Cox of Festus, Mo., Larry (wife, Pat) Cox of Savanna and Art (wife, Mary) Cox of Chillicothe; several nieces and nephews.

     Mrs. Mathis attended schools in Morris and Virginia and was a member of the Chandlerville Baptist Church. She was active in the family business of logging and farming for many years and also formerly owned and operated the Dew Drop Inn Tavern in Bath from 1974-1977.      Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Lintner-Buchanan Funeral Home in Chandlerville, with burial at the Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia. Larry "Jake" Mathis - 1945-2003 - Beardstown

   Larry "Jake" Mathis, 57, of Beardstown, died Friday evening, May 9, 2003, at his residence.
   He was born Aug. 9, 1945, in Browning, the son of Loyd W. and Eva Haffner Mathis. He married Sandra Jean Spoon May 18, 1972, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Beardstown, and she preceded him in death Jan. 2, 1999.
   He is survived by two daughters Tanya (husband, Darrell) Logan of Beardstown and Crystal Emerick of Rushville; two sons, Charles "Rocky" Frank and Timothy J. Frank, both of Beardstown; six grandchildren, Elijah Logan, Slade Logan, Paris Logan, R.J. (wife, Andrea) Frank, Zachary Frank and Austin Emerick; two brothers, Fred of Forest City and William (wife, Ruth) of Du Quoin; three sisters, Wilma Jean (husband, Carlyle) Lamb of Frederick, Norma Eddington of Beardstown and Pat Breiland of Pennsylvania; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Jim (surviving wife, Bernice Mathis of Mount Carmel).
   Mr. Mathis attended Browning Grade School and graduated from Rushville High School in the class of 1963. He was also a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in Beardstown. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the American Legion Post in Beardstown. He was formerly employed with Bohn-Heat Transfer in Beardstown for 13 years and then worked for Landes Trucking in Beardstown until 1992. He enjoyed playing bingo on Tuesday and Thursday nights. He previously coached boys' Minor League Baseball in Beardstown for 18 years and he loved to attend the baseball and softball games of his grandchildren.
   Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, with burial in Beardstown City Cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Monday at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown, where the family will meet friends from 5-7 p.m. Memorials have been suggested to St. John's Lutheran Church in Beardstown or Beardstown Baseball Association.

    Russell Lloyd McCombs, 89, of Beardstown, died Sunday afternoon, April 13, 2003, at Heritage Manor East Nursing Home in Beardstown.
    He was born Jan. 5, 1914, in Browning, the son of William and Verna Burton McCombs. He married Lillian Adkison March 20, 1943, in
Palmyra, Mo., and she survives.
    He is also survived by five sons, Russell Jr. (wife, Betty), William (wife, Carol), Benjamin (wife, Anett), Timothy (wife, Lisa) and David (fiancee, Debbie), all of Beardstown; three daughters, Marsha (husband, Larry) Seward and Mary Ann (husband, Scott) Davis, both of Beardstown and Judy (husband, David) Gormon of Pekin; 21 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Chester; one sister, Lucille Krohe, and two daughters, Margaret (surviving husband, Kenny) Goss & Inez (surviving husband, Larry) Redding.
    Mr. McCombs owned and operated Russ' Cab in Beardstown for several years. He was retired from the City of Beardstown. He served in the
U.S. Army during World War II, and was a member of the American Legion and the Moose.
    Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Goodwin Funeral Home in Beardstown, with burial at Messerer Cemetery in Browning.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of services Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Cass-Schuyler County

Hazel McDaniel - 1921-2003 - Virginia

   Hazel McDaniel, 82 years, of Virginia, and formerly of Griggsville, died Wednesday evening, June 18, 2003 at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.
   She was born Jan. 17, 1921 in Kilbourne, the daughter of John A. and Rachel Kemper McMullen. She married Arthur F. McDaniel June 21, 1936 in Bowling Green, Mo., and he preceded in death in November 1986.
   She is survived by two sons, Robert W. (wife, Margaret) and John D. (wife, Cathy), all of Griggsville; three daughters, Mary B. "Bonnie" (husband, Larry) Billingsley of Rushville, Donna J. (husband, Ronald) Potter of Pittsfield, and Linda M. (husband, Kenneth) Brue of Virginia; 20 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one brother, John (wife, Betty) Wiekert of Tuscola; one sister, Beulah McMillan of DuQuoin; and several nieces and nephews.
   She was preceded in death by three sons in infancy; one grandson, one brother, Ralph McMullen; two sisters, Gladys Bush and Lydia Dowell; and one half sister, Mary Agnes.
   Mrs. McDaniel was a homemaker and retired from Brown Shoe Company in Pittsfield. She worked with the Virginia Bread of Love and provided home care for the elderly in Virginia. She was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church in Virginia and was a former member of the church's Altar Society. She was an excellent cook and seamstress. She enjoyed flower gardening and spending time with her family.
   Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday, June 23, 2003 at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Virginia, with burial at Chapin Cemetery, east of Chapin. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Massie-Buchanan Funeral Home in Virginia where a prayer and rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Cass-Schuyler Area Hospice.

Anna Louise McLain - 1921-2003 - Beardstown

    Anna Louise McLain, 81, of Beardstown, died Sunday morning, June 8, 2003, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.
    She was born Oct. 17, 1921, in Beardstown, the daughter of William and Elizabeth Tucker Langdon. She married William Patterson "Pat" McLain April 2, 1946, at the St. Alexius Catholic Parsonage in Beardstown, and he survives in Beardstown.
    She is also survived by one son, Dana Edward (wife, Dawna) of Arenzville; four grandchildren, Amanda, Audrey, Adrienne and Patrick
McLain all of Arenzville; and one sister, Doris Andre of Springfield. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert, George, William and Edward Langdon; and three sisters, Mary Niestradt, Olive Carls and Rosella Stambaugh.
    Mrs. McLain graduated from Beardstown High School in the class of 1939. She was a member of St. Alexius Catholic Church in Beardtown
and Royal Neighbors. She formerly was employed as receptionist/secretary for Dr. Charles, MD, in Beardstown several years ago. She truly loved her family and she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and making sure she attended their ballgames.
    A funeral mass will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Alexius Catholic Church in Beardstown, with burial in Newman Cemetery in rural Arenzville. Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown where the family will meet friends from 5-7 p.m. today. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

Family Notes: Andrew John Menckel being the son of John Christian Menckel and Rebecca Cross.
Andrew John Menckel born abt 1860-1861 in Beardstown, Cass County, Illinois. Married Emma Sophia Maria Nolden, daughter of Frederick Nolden and Maria Adeline Geils, born Sept. 18, 1868 in Beardstown, Illinois. Married in Beardstown, Illinois Sept. 29, 1886. Lived in Festus, Missouri until their deaths.

A.J. Menckel, a resident of Festus for many years, passed away at his home on North Mill Street, Festus, on Thursday of last week, after a lingering illness. Mr. Menckel had been in failing health for sometime and the  seriousness of his last illness was not apparent to the public since he was seen frequently on our Main Street and always appeared to be the possessor of a sturdy constitution and therefore it might  be said that his end came unexpectedly to those who knew him and esteemed his words of greetings almost daily. Funeral services were conducted at the Christian Church Sunday afternoon, Jan.18, Rev.Morris, Pastor officiating and he was laid  to rest in the Methodist Cemetery. We extend condolence to his bereaved widow and daughters.

Caroline Sabina Menge was born in Lamerdem, Kreis-Hoff, Geismer, Germany, August 22, 1842, and died at the old home, near Jules, Cass County, Ill., January 4, 1895, aged 52 years 4 months and 13 days. She came to America with her parents when eleven years of age and landed in Beardstown, Ill., September 8, 1853. She was married to John Tribswasser in June 1859. To them were born two children, John and Amelia. The husband and father died in the United States hospital at Mound City, Ill., June 21, 1864. He was a Union Soldier in Company 114th, Regiment, Illinois Volunteers. She again married to Carl Brech, Febuary 7, 1865. Three daughters were born to them, Lizzie, Tena and Lena. All the children are still living. Her husband Carl Brech, died October 21, 1891. After his death she remained at the family residence with her unmarried children, where she had lived over twenty three years, one and a half miles north of Jules station. She was converted and joined the M.E. Church at Beardstown in 1865, and lived a consistent devoted, Christian life up to the time of her departure. A short time before her death she called all her children around her bed and gave them her last blessing, exhorting them to give their hearts and lives to her dear Savior, to join the church, and to meet her in the home above, then quietly went to sleep to awake in heaven. The funeral services occurred at 10 o'clock a.m. on Monday, January 7, at the home residence and were conducted by Rev. A.H. Reat of this city, and were attended by a large number of relatives and friends. The remains were laid to rest in the new City Cemetery at Beardstown. Thus one by one, all are passing into eternity.

John Perry Middaugh - 1938-2003 - Beardstown

   John Perry Middaugh, 64, of Beardstown, died Sunday morning, Aug. 24, 2003, at his residence.
   He was born Dec. 13, 1938, in Beardstown, the son of William and Irene Noonan Middaugh.
   He is survived by four brothers, Richard and Charles of Beardstown, Leonard of Joliet and Raymond of Sherman; one sister, Mary Birdsell of Algonquin; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother in infancy; two brothers, Albert and Fred; and one sister Lois Worley.
   Mr. Middaugh loved to ride his bicycle around Beardstown and spend time with his good friend, Scott Surratt.
   Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at Beardstown City Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown is in charge of arrangements.

   Debra K. Minor, 46, of Virginia died Thursday evening, January 10, 2002 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield. She was born on November 4, 1955 in White Hall the daughter of David F. and Myrtle Mercer Horney. She married Jerry Minor on January 28, 1976 in White Hall and he survives in Virginia.
   She is also survived by two daughters, Rebecca (fiance, Brian Harris) Minor and Rachel Minor, both of Virginia; one son, J.T. Minor, Jr. of Virginia; one step-son, James T. Minor of Glasgow, Kentucky; her parents, David F. and Myrtle Horney of Jacksonville; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three sisters, Carol (husband, Steve) McNealy of Jacksonville, Becky Jones of San Jose, California, and Janet (husband, Warren) Smith of Jacksonville; three brothers, David F. "Fred" (wife, Susie) Horney, III of Hollywood, Florida, Dan Horney of Springfield, and Mike (wife, Lisa) Horney of Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.
This upcoming May would have marked 24 years of employment for Mrs. Minor at Pactiv in Jacksonville. She also worked part-time at Hucks in Jacksonville, and had earlier been a waitress at Sambo's in Jacksonville. She was a member of the Virginia Jaycees and enjoyed the sun, water, and boating. She attended Harvest Temple United Pentecostal Church in Jacksonville.
   Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 13, 2002 at the Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville with burial at Virginia Cemetery in Virginia. Friends may call after 12 Noon on Saturday at the funeral home where the family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to her grandchildren's education fund.

James Ruben "Jim" Minton - 1943-2002 - Ashland

    James Ruben "Jim" Minton, 59, of Ashland, died Thursday afternoon, Dec. 5, 2002, at his cabin in rural Bath.
    He was born Sept. 13, 1943, in Brownsville, Ky., the son of Letty and Sally Woosley Minton.
He married Deborah A. Minton June 28, 1964, in Springfield, and they were later divorced.
    He is survived by one daughter, Susan (husband, Robert) Romanotto of Ashland; his fiancee',
Jody Brown of Virginia; two grandchildren; three step grandchildren; two brothers, Thomas Minton (wife, Carol) of Pacific, Mo., and Jerry Minton of San Jose, Calif.; three sisters, Arizona (husband, Bob) Woosley of Springfield, Irene "Boots" Myers of McDaniels, Ky., and Dottie McKelvey of Danville; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Jane McComas; and one brother, Charlie Minton.
    Mr. Minton worked as a union laborer for 29 years from Springfield Local 477. He formerly owned and operated the E & M Monument Company in Ashland with Rich Edwards for several years prior to his retirement. He loved to hunt and fish.

J. Wayne Munsch - February 15, 1916 - December 18, 2002

    J. Wayne Munsch, 86, of Virginia and formerly of Mason City, died on Wednesday, December 18, 2002 in Jacksonville.
    He was born on February 15, 1916 in Grygla, MN to Eckard J. and Irene Daniels Munsch. He married Pauline Schock on December 2, 1939 in Dubuque, IA.
    Surviving are his wife, Pauline of Virginia.
    Preceding him in death were one brother and one sister.
    Mr. Munsch retired from Cass Telephone Company as a switchboard repairman.
    Cremation rites have been accorded. There will be no services held.
    Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
    Hurley Funeral Home in Havana was in charge of the arrangements.

Lucille G. Murphy - 1912-2003 - Chandlerville

    Lucille G. "Lu" Murphy, 91, of Chandlerville, died Thursday morning, September 11, 2003 at Passavant Area Hospital in
Jacksonville.
    She was born Sept. 9, 1912 in Cass County, the daughter of Hanson Arthur and Mary Rickard Garner. She married Arthur Andrew Murphy and he preceded in death on Aug. 16, 1961.
    She is survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Walter, William "Bill", Evan, and Harold "Jack" Garner and three half sisters, Erma Griffin, Emma Perry, and Zelma Tuecke.
    Mrs. Murphy was a 1930 graduate of Chandlerville High School and was employed several years at the Chandlerville Creamery. She later worked in many areas including the Chandlerville Post Office, Avon product sales, and assisting Imogene Lintner at the Lintner-Buchanan Funeral Home. She served numerous years as the Panther Creek Township Clerk. She was a long time member of the former Chandlerville United Methodist Church and was active in the Royal Neighbors of America,
Chandlerville Woman's Club, Chandlerville American legion Auxiliary, and Cass County Historical Society.
    Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Sunday, September 14, 2003 at the Lintner-Buchanan Funeral Home in Chandlerville with burial in Chandlerville Cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home where the family will meet friends from 5-7 p.m. Memorial gifts are suggested to the Chandlerville American Legion Auxiliary.

George Harold Musch - 1922-2003 - Arenzville

   George Harold Musch, 80, of rural Arenzville, died Tuesday afternoon, March 4, 2003, at his residence. He was born December 28, 1922, in Jacksonville, the son of George W. and Selma Lovekamp Musch, Sr.
   He is survived by his companion, Elizabeth Hagerty of Arenzville; cousins Waldron (wife, Shirley) Paul of Arenzville, Elizabeth Chalupka of Evanston, William (wife, Doris) Niemann of Tucson, Arizona, John (wife, Ann) Musch of Arenzville, Melvin (wife, Mildred) Musch of Chapin, Floyd (wife, Maxine) Musch of Concord, and Albert Henry Musch of Jacksonville; and numerous other cousins, including Craig Musch of Chapin and Brian Musch of Arenzville, both of whom assisted Mr. Musch with his farm operation.
   Mr. Musch was a lifelong farmer in the Arenzville area, and lived in the home on his farm his entire life. He raised livestock and was very proud of his land and his machinery. Mr. Musch was a lifetime member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church at Arenzville and served as chairman of the building committee when the new church was erected in 1971. He was a board member of the Lutheran Social Services of St. Luke's Hospital in Beardstown, and his generosity funded the Musch Chapel at that hospital. Mr. Musch also gave generously to Passavant Hospital in Jacksonville and Carthage College at Kenosha, Wisconsin.
   Mr. Musch was a member of the Jacksonville Country Club and the Beardstown Elks Club. He enjoyed taking rides in his truck, monitoring the local farm activities.
   Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 7, 2003, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church at Arenzville, with burial at St. Peter's Cemetery. Friends may call after 12 Noon on Thursday at the Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville, where the family will meet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Cass County Hospice or St. Peter's Lutheran Church.

Haroldine R. Musch 1924-2006 Virginia

   Haroldine Ruth Husted Musch, 82, of Jacksonville, and formerly of rural Virginia, died Wednesday evening, July 19, 2006, at Modern Care Convalescent Facility in Jacksonville.
   She was born Feb. 18, 1924, in Winchester, the daughter of Guy Harold and Mary Emma Treadway Husted. She married Warren Roy Musch on June 23, 1944, at Camp Pendelton, Calif., and he survives.
   She is also survived by two sons, Randal L. of South Jacksonville and Cordel R. (wife, Jane) of Fort Worth, Texas; five grandchildren, Jonathan Musch (finacee, Sara) of O'Fallen, Sarah Musch of Springfield, and Carrie Musch, Cameron Musch and Caitlin Musch, all of Fort Worth, Texas; one sister, May Beth (husband, Ross) Manning of Roodhouse; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister, Ann Christie Husted McDade.
   Mrs. Musch attended Virginia schools and graduated from Virginia High School in 1942. She attended Stephens College in Columbia, Mo., and the University of Illinois and later graduated from Illinois State University in 1970 after having taught for 19 years. She retired from the Virginia school district following a teaching career that spanned 37 years from the one room Monroe School in rural Cass County to her fourth grade class at Virginia Elementary School.
   A consumate hostess, Mrs. Musch enjoyed entertaining her friends and family at her beloved "Breezy Hill Farm". She was well-known for elaborate theme parties, special chicken salad, and deviled eggs. She also traveled extensively with her beloved husband throughout the United States, cruised to many ports of call, and attended numerous 5th Marine Division national reunions. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Virginia and the Daughters of the American Revolution. An avid card player, she enjoyed her duplicate bridge club.
   Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church in Virginia, with burial at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia. Friends may call after 3 p.m. today at Massie-Buchanan Funeral Home in Virginia, where the family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Memorial are suggested to Passavant Area Hospital Wound Center or First Presbyterian Church of Virginia.

Carl Warn Myers - 1926-2003 - Beardstown

    Carl Warn Myers, 77, of Beardstown, died Tuesday morning, June 17, 2003, at his residence.
    He was born April 20, 1926, in Beardstown, the son of Robert O. and Dorothy M. Wise Myers. He married Lois Lorraine Little Dec. 22, 1945, in Rushville, and she preceded him in death.
    He is survived by one daughter, Marsha (husband, Jim) Fishel of rural Beardstown; three granddaughters, April (husband, Gary) Johnson of Perry, Ga., Amy (husband, Steve) Alford of Avondale, Ariz., and Angela (husband, Corey) Cook of rural Beardstown; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Michael.
    Mr. Myers attended Beardstown High School and joined the Army after school. He had worked as a fisherman during his civilian life.
    Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Friday at Beardstown City Cemetery. There will be no formal visitation. Memorials have been suggested to the American Lung Association.
