Rosa S. Edge - 1911-2003 - Chandlerville
Rosa S. Edge, 92, of rural Chandlerville, died Sunday afternoon, Feb.
23, 2003, at her residence.
She was born Jan. 2, 1911, in rural Arenzville, the daughter of Henry
and Mathilda Krohe Hendricker. She married Raymond Edge on Jan.
31, 1933, at her parent's home in rural Arenzville, and he survives.
She is also survived by three sons, Milton (wife, Hazel) of
Chandlerville, William "Bill" of rural Chandlerville, and Dale (wife, Donna) of
rural Ashland; one daughter, Shirley (husband, Dean) Duckwiler of Pleasant Plains; 10
grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; two brothers, Irvin
(wife, Aline) Hendricker of rural Beardstown; and Harold (wife, Margaret) Hendricker of
rural Arenzville; three sisters, Ada (husband, F.D.) Bennett of Griggsville, Bertha
(husband, Ralph) Wankel of Beardstown, and Vera (husband, Cal) Johnson of Salinsas,
Calif.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son, Jerry in
infancy; one granddaughter; two brothers, Ralph and Homer Hendricker; and two sisters,
Myrtle Carls and Phyllis Crocker.
Mrs. Edge was a faithful member of the Mount Olive Baptist Church,
where he played the organ until recently. She was a former 4-H leader
and an active member of the Cass County Home Extension. She was an avid gardener who
raised a wide variety of flowers and vegetables.
She was an accomplished seamstress who completed more than 55 quilts. She enjoyed spending
time at family gatherings.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Olive Baptist
Church, east of Chandlerville, with burial at Chandlerville
Cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. today at the Lintner-Buchanan Funeral Home in
Chandlerville, where the family will meet friends from 5-7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to
the Cass-Schuyler Area Hospice or Mount Olive Baptist Church.

Mrs. Sarah J. Elliott, 99 formerly of Chandlerville, died Sunday at her residence in Scottsdale, Ariz., following a short illness.
Mrs. Elliott was born Nov. 17, 1854.
She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Martha Abbott, Bloomington; Mrs. Clarabel Howey and Mrs. Ida Evelyn Walker, both of Scottsdale; Mrs. Hazel Garner, Chandlerville, and Mrs. Irene Young, Peoria, and two sons, William and Jess, both of Peoria.
The body will be received by the Lintner funeral home, where friends may call Thursday evening and where services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday. Rev. Leslie Stewart will officiate. Burial will be in Chandlerville cemetery.

DEATH OF THE OLDEST MASON IN ILLINOIS. Mr. Julius Elmore, the oldest Mason in Illinois, died at Prentice, on Tuesday morning, after having attained the age of ninety years. Mr. Elmore was a member of Cass Lodge, No. 23, of Beardstown, and had been a member of the Masonic order for sixty-five years. A delegation of fifty brother Masons attended his funeral from Jacksonville, others came down from Petersburg, while Beardstown and other places were also represented. Mr. Superintendent Morse kindly ran a special train for the accommodation of the delegations from this place and Petersburg. The old gentleman was a native of Tennessee (although a resident of Prentice for many years), from which state he went to New Orleans in 1812, being a member of Captain Huddleston’s company. He engaged in the battle of New Orleans, and served throughout the Creek war.
Mr. Elmore was an amiable man, a noble Mason, a good citizen, as well as a patriot.
“His long life’s march is ended,
His battles fought and won.”
ELMORE -- At his residence in Ashland, Cass County, on Tuesday, April 27th, 1869, Julius Elmore, aged 90 years, 8 months, and two days.
He was buried with Masonic ceremonies by Cass Lodge, assisted by brethren from Jacksonville. Mr. Elmore was the oldest resident of this County, and the oldest Mason in the State of Illinois. His wife aged eighty-six years, survives him, and on the day of burial walked to the graveyard.

Died at his residence in Ashland on April 27th, Julius Elmore. He was 90 years, 8 months and 2 days old. He was buried with Masonic rites, he was the oldest Mason in Illinois having been one for 65 years. He was also the oldest resident of Cass County. He was born in Robinson County, TN. His wife is 86 years old and they were married over 60 years."

Dolores Mae Erwin - 1930-2003 - Beardstown
Dolores Mae Erwin, 72, of Beardstown, died Wednesday afternoon, Jan.
29, 2003 at the home of Paul and Gayle Hilliard of Beardstown,
where she resided.
She was born Feb. 12, 1930, in Chicago Heights, the daughter of Frank
and Rose Bertrand Erwin.
She is survived by three daughters, Shelly Lotshaw of Watseka, Lena
Jantzen of Sparwood, British Columbia, Canada and Cery Nolling
of Los Angeles; two sons, Lloyd Nolling of Bakersfield, Calif., and Mike (wife, Christina)
Williams of Germany; 16 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in
death by two sisters.
Ms. Erwin loved to travel and attend the local churches in the area of
which she lived. She was active with Harbor House. She enjoyed her life, gardening and
people. One of her favorite pasttimes was crocheting items for different people in her
life.
Memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Goodwin Funeral
Home in Beardstown. Memorials are suggested to Christian Love

Florence A. Ethridge 1915-2003 Beardstown
Florence A. Ethridge, 87, of Beardstown, died Tuesday evening, May 13,
2003, at Culberton Memorial Hospital in Rushville.
She was born Dec. 12, 1915, in Beardstown, the daughter of Harvey and
Reba Velma Herren Anderson. She married Charles W. Ethridge April
15, 1939, in Palmyra, Mo. and he preceded her in death Jan. 15, 1972.
She is survived by two daughters, Velma (husband, Lawrence) Bauser of
Beardstown and Charlene (husband, Donald) Lerch of Rushville; nine grandchildren; 11
great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Rosenid Holthoff of Beardstown and Norma Slate of
Kettle Falls, Wash. She was preceded in death by one sister, Verna May Anderson; one
brother, Myron Harvey Anderson; and two great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Ethridge attended Black Oak School in rural Beardstown and was
employed with a shipyard in Vancouver, Wash., Wells-Lamont Glove
Factory in Beardstown and the Beardstown Bowl. She enjoyed flower gardening, fishing, and
her cockatoo "Pretty Bird." She will be remembered as a truly loving mother and
grandmother.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Sager Funeral Home in
Beardstown, with burial at Beardstown City Cemetery. Family will meet friends from 9:30-11
a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
