Bluff Springs, is a native of Germany; born Dec. 26, 1832; his father was Conrad Funk, a native of Germany, born in 1807, and died on the ocean in the fall of 1832, and his mother's name was Catharine Doll before her marriage; she is still living, and is the mother of three children. Our subject was reared to farming, and has followed that occupation all his working days, having commenced in Cass County when a boy. He has also done something at auctioneering and dealing in stock. He was married in Beardstown, July 28, 1857, to Miss Lucina F. Steiner, who was born in Texas Dec. 5, 1839, and eight children have been born to him: Conrad, (dead); Henry C., Louis A., Rose, Mary, George E., Emma and Frank, (dead).
